The Minelab Vanquish 340 is the perfect family metal detector for young and old. Entry level has never been so powerful, fun and easy.

Whether you are an adult or child, the Vanquish 340 is a very easy detector to use. But don't let the simplicity of this metal detector fool you. The Vanquish 340 is certainly no toy. With the same power and Multi IQ technology of the 440 & 540, the Vanquish 340 packs a lot of punch.

Simplified down to the essential features of the Vanquish range, the 340 makes the perfect family metal detector to take to the beach, parks and on camping trips. You don't need detecting experience to use this detector. Simply turn it on, select one of the 3 pre set detecting modes and away you go. It doesn't get any easier than that.

Minelab Vanquish 340

Minelab Vanquish 340. True Multi Frequency - All Terrain Metal Detector

Multi Frequency: While the Minelab VANQUISH 340 is designed for the entry level market, it doesn't mean it lacks professional features. Like many pro machines, the 340 is a true multi frequency detector and at it's core is Minelab's Multi IQ Technology.

To explain Multi IQ: The VANQUISH 340 runs on all of it's frequencies, low-mid-high, all at the same time. As you swing the detector, it scans and reads the ground conditions and adjusts itself to the mineralisation automatically, without you needing to make any adjustments yourself. This gives you more depth on smaller targets and a smoother, more stable detector.

With Multi IQ Technology, the Vanquish 340 will operate at it's peak, no matter what type of ground you are on. You never need to ground balance or manually change frequencies to adapt to changing minerals in the ground or for different target types. Literally, just turn it on and the VANQUISH 340 will do the rest.

All Terrain: Because the VANQUISH uses Multi IQ, you can use it anywhere and on any terrain, even mineralised ground.

It doesn't matter what type of target you are looking for or where you are detecting the VANQUISH 340 is ready to go wherever you want to take it. Simply select one of the three pre-set Find Modes — Coin, Jewellery or All Metal — then start detecting. Each mode is pre-programmed and optimised to give you the best performance, anytime and anywhere: park, field or beach.

Minelab Vanquish 340 Beach and wet sand

Beach detecting is a lot of fun, but not all detectors can handle the high mineralisation found in wet sand. But with Multi IQ Technology, this isn't an issue for the VANQUISH 340. It will run smooth and quiet and isn't prone to giving false signals caused by mineralisation in wet sand. Because it's search coil and shaft are waterproof, you can detect in the shallows with out any concern. You can even detect in creeks and streams.

Park and Field detecting with the Vanquish 340 is a breeze. It is very common for old rubbish and  iron to be buried in the ground in these types of areas, but with the 340's fast recovery time and discrimination, finding the treasure from the junk is easy. Even troublesome hot rocks aren’t an issue for the VANQUISH 340.

With the VANQUISH nothing goes undetected and no terrain is off limits. Silver, gold or jewellery. Park, field or beach. Unearth the power of VANQUISH with Multi-IQ. Learn more about Multi-IQ Technology.

    • We are beginners looking to beach fossick. I am interested in the vanquish 340 - is that the one or should I go up to the 440? Also if we were to look for relic and coins which would be best. We do livi in an ironstone soil area. Thanks

Thanks for getting in touch. Both the 340 and 440 run on Minelabs Multi IQ Technology, so they run extremely well on wet sand and salt water. They are also excellent for relic and coin detecting, even on mineralised ground.

The main differences between the two are, the 440 has pinpoint mode which makes finding the exact position of a target much quicker and easier. It has 4 search modes plus all metal mode, instead of 3, it has more segmentation and comes with Minelab Headphones. (headphones allow you to really hear faint signals and also cut out background noise such as waves). It also comes with a rain cover for the control box which allows you to detect in bad weather and also protects it from spalshes when detecting in the shallows.

Both are very good detectors. If the extra features and products are something that you feel will benefit you, then the 440 is an excellent choice.

    • Hi. I need a metal detector to find nails in mud or up to 10cm underground. It is to make paddocks safe for horses. Also lime to find any small sharp pieces of metal, corrugated iron etc.

      Hello Maryanne,

Thank you for your question. Really any metal detector will be able to do this for you. The one in question here will certainly be great at it but if you aren't looking to use it for other types of detecting then I would recommend a more budget friendly detector. What I would suggest is the Minelab Go-find 22. It is very budget friendly but will also be really good to find nails and sharp metallic objects in your horse arena. It is also so easy to use. Literally turn it on and away you go. Here is a link for it.  If you have any questions please let us know.

    • Does the 340 detect gold?

      Hi,

Not really. The Minelab Vanquish 340 is a multi purpose metal detector suited to find coins, relics, treasures etc. It is also awesome on the beach.

While it is true that any metal detector can find gold, unless they are designed for gold detecting,  they will struggle in gold bearing ground due to the high mineralisation and iron in the ground.
